Abstract :
Due to increase of cardiac diseases, the use of Implantable Pacemakers has been increased which is an artificial source to provide the pacing pulse to heart. This therapy has improved the quality of thousands of people and in some cases provides the life sustaining therapy. Biotelemetry provides wireless communication links between implanted pacemaker and outside equipment for programming its pacing pulses or data transferring. It is a promising function for future automatic implantable medical devices (AIMDs) especially in the filed of telemedicine. There may be a risk of EMI when a metallic object is placed near the patientpsilas chest which may exchange of wrong data. The paper presents the finite difference time domain (FDTD) based model to investigate the EM reflection pattern of a metal coin placed in the chest pocket of a person implanted with a cardiac. The validity of simulated model will be verified by changing the parameters.
