Abstract :
A personal computer program for applying capacitors and regulators to radial distribution feeders is described. Several key design issues concerning the software, analysis methods, and database are discussed. Object-oriented software design techniques were used to achieve a good user interface and flexible modeling capability. This approach makes it easier to model arbitrarily complex circuit elements and change the models at any time in the future without disturbing the rest of the program. The program is designed around a comprehensive database capable of supporting many different power system analysis programs.<>
