Abstract
Morero-supercomputer is first of its kind, designed and constructed at any educational institute in Pakistan. Morero is a MIMD multiprocessor cluster, composed of off-the-shelf commodity personal computers, connected through a dedicated network that acts as a single supercomputer. Morero is based on Beowulf class supercomputer architecture, the Beowulf cluster architecture is defined as a high performance parallel system networked cluster of workstations (COW) logically connected by shared memory. Conventional super computers like Cray, IBM and other computer venders typically cost tens of millions of dollars. Morero is built with off the shelf PC components that are inexpensive and can easily be found from scratch, with no cost. This type of cluster based super computers can compete worldpsilas best conventional super computers at a mere fraction of their cost. It can be used to solve all type of complex computational problems like simulating nuclear fusion reaction, weather forecasting, simulating human gnome code and other areas that are now beginning to take advantage of large-scale computations, such as economics, financial modeling, microbiology and medicine, at amazingly negligible cost.
