Abstract
Reconfigurable pixel antennas require algorithms that can change the antennas to match the specifications in real time with the minimum number of switch operations. To address this problem, an algorithm that combines a search method, an approximate qualitative antenna model and measurements is proposed. The qualitative model is based on a shape grammar that relates the shape of the antenna to its electromagnetic properties, and the measurements are substituted by an accurate numerical electromagnetic model. Results demonstrate that the algorithm goes through a small number of iterations to converge to the antenna properties required.
