Abstract :
Communication systems using multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) space-time codes are claimed to have superior performance in multipath environments. Modems using 2×2 differential space-time coding are implemented on FPGAs and RF front ends are constructed using a variety of filters, mixers, and amplifiers. Single-input-single-output (SISO) and MIMO systems are tested in an indoor laboratory environment with interference. Both line-of-sight (LOS) and non-LOS channels are tested. Although the MIMO system outperforms the SISO system at low interference levels, high levels of interference adversely affect MIMO systems more than SISO systems.
