Abstract :
In order to overcome the shortcomings of the present microgripper, a new type of microgripper based on GMM was presented. Microgripper based on GMM is a type of microgripper based on giant magnetostrictive material. Driving force is provided by the expansion and shrinkage of GMM in magnetic field. Using giant magnetostrictive material to drive microgripper can not only realize quick response and large output force, but also control output force easily. This paper showed that how to apply computer aided technology into microgripper based on GMM design. Application of 3D solid modeling based on KBE can optimize the design of microgripper construction. Microgripper magnetic field can be analyzed through CAE. Clamp simulation of microgripper can be realized through VRML. The application of computer aided technology in the new type of microgripper design may significantly reduce the microgripper´s design cost and design cycle.
