Abstract
Experienced hundred years of developing history, animation today becomes not only an important form and narrative adopted by the mass media, but also a main force and significant impetus for the ecological formation and development of visual culture. Hence the ontological study on the animation art becomes increasingly vital and essential, while the modeling of the animation characters is a key component of the animation art ontology, and the most important visual element in motivated movies as well. This paper gives a systemized study on and interpretation of its modeling language, guided by the knowledge in the fields of semantics and pragmatics, combined with a large amount of cases of animation characters modeling, analyzes and systematically discusses the symbolic constituent of “painting” and “moving” in the animation characters modeling, and induces as well as sums up the various aspects of symbolic features.
