Abstract
This work presents the results of the analytical study of the magnetic field in the air gap of a linear motor produced by permanent magnets. That is done based on the development of a tri-dimensional analytical model. By knowing the behavior of the distribution of the magnetic flux density, one can obtain the equation of the propulsion force of the linear motor in study. Figures resulting from measurements and from numerical analysis are also presented
