Title :
GEC-CSF interaction in magnetron history and development
Author_Institution :

Abstract :
Two historical periods in the development of the cavity magnetron and its subsequent derivatives involved significant GEC/CSF collaboration. The first was the critical period in 1940 when modified cathode design transformed the original cavity magnetron. The second was in the post-war period (1950-72) when injected beam crossed field devices (backward-wave “carcinotron” oscillator and forward-wave amplifier) were developed with growing understanding of beam stability.
