Abstract
An RF cavity operating at three times the frequency of the present Main Ring RF system at Fermilab has been installed to minimize the beam loss and longitudinal emittance (εl) growth related to the transition crossing. Tests have been carried out with beam intensities ranging from 3×109 to 2.3×1010 ppb and εl≃0.07 eVs. No beam loss conditions have been attained. Attempts have been made to reduce emittance growth after the transition
