Abstract :
The paper describes a “universal” digital sequential circuit using a wavelet network with feedback and discrete weights which only take values on {1,0,-1}. In addition, “programmable wavelet array (PWA)” configuration is proposed to make the hardware implementation easier. The proposed circuit has a lot of advantages: (1) any sequential logic function is self organized by training, i.e., it is not necessary to design the circuit; (2) even the large scale circuit performs a high speed operation, due to the parallel behavior of the neural networks; (3) the hardware implementation becomes easier since discrete weights can be fabricated with PWA. The configuration of this circuit and its learning procedure are presented. Then, some experimental results are shown
