Abstract
This paper will outline the strategy and process for developing products that have been designed for automated diagnostics. It will also give an example of how this process is being applied today in Agilent and BAE Systems products. Ultimately, it will show that by adding diagnostics into the design process, a revolutionary reduction in support risk and cost can be realized in contrast to the evolutionary reduction that have been realized in the past.
