Abstract :
Research of network traffic model has always been the fundamental study of network simulation. The reliable models should sufficiently describe the real network environmental characteristic. In this paper, we propose two network traffic models which can describe the self-similarity of traffic with packet-loss characteristic. We deduce the self-similar properties of two models, and figure out that the second model has better self-similar property. Finally, based on these two models, we simulate network traffic by Matlab. By studying the Hurst parameter of the simulation results, we conclude that these two models in the paper can describe the network traffic with packet-loss characteristic well.
