Abstract
Ships´ underwater electric fields (UEF) are generated by metallic components on the hull under water. Each metal has its proper electric potential in sea water. For cost-effective and reliable way to estimate the actual purpose of the ship UEF signatures on the high seas, we have developed a method to measure the water potential from the ship deck (unstable equilibrium point). Two reference electrodes were hung under the deck into the water from the side. Through the fixed electrode in the vicinity of one of the ship dry, we measured in several points, the other in the depth of one meter around the electrode vessel unstable equilibrium point. We measured the two boats unstable equilibrium point, and with the same sensor in the sea UEF signatures, two ships of the UEP agreed proportion. We have confirmed that the method of the actual measurement vessel unstable equilibrium point is valid.
