Abstract
A novel method for temperature sensing is demonstrated by exploiting stimulated Brillouin scattering based slow light. The approach relies on temperature dependence of the Brillouin frequency shift in a fiber, and the consequent time delay of a probe pulse. Temperature sensing is achieved in a 100m SMF with high sensitivity.
