Abstract :
An investigation in to the feasibility of using phosphor coated PMMA optical fibres as a means of measuring low energy x-ray ionising radiation for radiotherapy applications is presented. The paper provides an overview of the current dosimetry techniques and details the advantages an optical fibre based system can bring to providing real-time, spatially resolved dosimetry methods for both beam characterisation and patient dose verification systems.
