Abstract :
The implementation of the surface acoustic wave technology has transferred microwave acoustic devices from "one of each kind" to a mass production oriented technology. This has provided a new class of devices which are cost competitive with aiternative technology in a variety of applications. The presentation will summarize key surface wave device concepts and applications and discuss their limits of performance. Novel device concepts which are expected to become commercially available in the near future are also explained and evaluated.
