Abstract :
A coupled-mode method is proposed for propagation study in anisotropic partially filled waveguides. when variables separation or plane wave spectrum methods are inoperative. The method uses the transverse operator. resulting from MAXWELL´s equations after longitudinal components elimination and is compared with SCHELKUNOFF´s method. After proposing a first simplification which suppresses the truncated matrix inversion that generally occurs in the last one. we show that our method prevents from a second source of error due to the supplementary truncation of terms which is introduced by his own calculation process, in SCHELKUNOFF´s equivalent operator. Numerical results of the two methods are compared for a partially semiconductor loaded waveguide with perpendicular induction in view of the field-displacement effect study. Furthermore. we suggest another method based on transverse components elimination for future mathematical convergence study.
