Abstract :
This paper is concerned with monitoring of basic daily activities using inertial sensors and foot pressure sensors. Daily activities are classified into eight states: : sitting, walking, walking up, walking down, running, running up, running down, and standing. A hidden Markov model filter is used to estate activity states. Also when the activity states are walking or running, walking distance is also computed using inertial navigation algorithms. The location where activities are taking place is determined using wireless modules.
