Abstract
In this paper we present a novel algorithm, Energy Efficient Weighted Load Balanced Routing (E-WLBR), to increase network lifetime for ad hoc wireless networks by applying weighted load-balancing strategies to the network. We show that E-WLBR significantly outperforms the Energy-opportunistic Weighted Minimum Energy Algorithm (E-WME) (an asymptotically optimal algorithm shown in [7] to outperform a host of other algorithms) in throughput and efficient network energy utilization by communicating global network conditions with minimal control message overhead.
