Abstract :
This paper expands upon earlier results obtained for the dispersion characteristics and modal structure of a waveguiding geometry which models the inhomogeneously ferrite load stripline. These results strongly indicate that components presumed to employ the edge-guided or peripheral mode to obtain isolation in fact utilize a disturbed dynamic wave guiding mode which, in the vicinity and within the region where the effective permeability is negative, assumes a quasi-surfacewave structure. Only through the use of this mode can the intrinsic broad band behavior of these devices be explained and advanced.
