Abstract
This paper describes the´design of 2.6 GHz, high gain, high power transistor amplifiers for use in a satellite transponder for a community television and radio broadcast service. Two power amplifiers are described: * A Class `c´ television channel amplifier using four internally matched bipolar transistors, generating 50 W output power. * A linear amplifier for transmission of 20 FM sound carriers, which uses four paralleled FET´s to provide the 10 W of output power with low intermodulation product levels. Both amplifiers are designed to operate in geosynchronous orbit following a Thor/Delta, Ariane, or Shuttle launch.
