Abstract :
Wavelet analysis is internationally recognized up to the minute tools for time-frequency. It gets an unprecedented development based on Fourier analysis and plays an important role in the signal processing especially in image compression. By analyzing the relations of the coefficients between each son block and the whole image, we can find the index position of the sub-band of each son block in the same sub-band of the whole image is same as that of the son block in the origin image. Using the conclusion, an image compression-based on the Set Partition in Hierarchical Tree (SPIHT) algorithm is principally researched and analyzed in this paper, its algorithm idea and steps is given. Finally, the experiment results show it is a good algorithm for wavelet coefficients compression.
