Abstract
According to the structure feature of the radial distribution network, a new method of earth fault detection based on wide-area measurement information is proposed in this paper. This method primarily uses the information matrix of the radial distribution network and wide-area information for fault diagnosis. The algorithm has a clearly physical concept and can identify the earth fault at the end of the line and at the exit of the next line. The effectiveness of the proposed approach is verified by IEEE 33-bus system.
