Abstract :
A pulsed corona charging technique for electrophotographic applications is discussed. A capacitor placed in line between a high-voltage AC power supply and a corona charger regulates the average current output. This technique eliminates the need for current regulation in the power supply, realizing a system cost savings. The corona output is reasonably insensitive to environmental variations. Direct-current pulsed chargers can also be configured using high-voltage clamping diodes. This approach permits multiple chargers to be operated from one power supply, realizing added system cost savings and increased reliability.<>
