Abstract :
The paper outlines a novel approach to the design of a waveguide four-way power splitter for application in solid-state power amplifiers. It presents the idea of the new structure and the basic theory behind it, as well as examples of simulations in Microwave Studio, and measurements results for fabricated model structures. Compared to known travelling-wave waveguide structures, the splitter offers wider working bandwidth. Additionally, the paper contains measurements of power combining capability, which for the purpose of verification, have been conducted with the use of small power amplifiers.
