Abstract
This paper suggests that student learning can be improved by requiring them to deal with implicit problem statements rather than explicit. This forces students to figure out what the problem is (and solve it). This is in contrast to explicitly stating the problem, leaving students only to manipulate the equations and plug in the numbers.
