  • Abstract
Femtocells can be used to enhance the system coverage and capacity of cellular network. However, the interference between the femtocell and existing macrocell is an important issue that needs to be dealt with. Moreover, the interference is strongly affected by access control strategy of femtocell, which decides whether a given user can connect to the femtocell. In this paper, an enhanced hybrid access control scheme, named as hybrid access based on partial resource sharing (HAPRS), is proposed. In HAPRS, the inferior resources of a femtocell which are selected based on the available throughput gain are allocated to the non-subscribers those suffered from heavy interference by this femtocell. Simulation results show that with little performance degradation on the subscribers, HAPRS greatly enhances the performance of the non-subscribers. As the macro UEs with poor links to macrocell have the chance to choose the nearby femtocell, Spectrum Efficiency (SE) of the macrocell is also raised.
