Abstract
In order to prevent leakage connected with the corona discharge of commercial plain paper copiers, the selection of the insulating material for the corona discharger was studied. The experimental procedure is described, and results showing the effect of relative humidity on the surface resistivity of each sample at 10 degrees C, 20 degrees C, 30 degrees C, and 40 degrees C are reported. Maximum and minimum surface resistances for Nylon 66 covered by the insulating grease commonly used in commercial copiers were 2.4*10/sup 1/u4 Omega and 1.1*10/sup 10/ Omega , respectively. Maximum and minimum surface resistances for Teflon not covered by insulating grease were 3*1/sup 15/ Omega and 3*10/sup 10/ Omega , respectively. It is concluded that Teflon without insulating grease is suitable for use as the charger´s terminal material in a commercial copier.<>
