Abstract :
This paper present a protocol to solve a specific problem of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Service of Fundacion Escuela de Medicina Nuclear (FUESMEN). This institution presented a problem associated with the visualization of MRI studies using anatomic (Tl, T2, PD) and functional (DWI, DTI, tractography and BOLD) imaging sequences. Therefore, it presents a developed protocol that allows three-dimensional visualization of different morphological and functional MRI sequences using registration and fusion techniques. For protocol design, it was made selection of appropriate software tools to solve the problem. It was used as visualization software 3D SLICER and ITK libraries to convert and management images from the resonator. DTI and tractography images are obtained from DWI sequence, using a specific module. Before visualization, a process of registration of all sequences is performed. Once constructed the scene, it´s possible to send all volumes in a single file for visualization by physician. For implementation of protocol into clinical MRI service, this was divided into two different procedures: on the one hand, the construction of the whole scene by technical staff, and on the other, visualization and portability of the scene by physicians. Through tutorials and training, it was possible to implement this protocol within the service. As a result, physicians have expressed the possibility of improving diagnosis and treatment, by combining information from different sequences in three-dimensional reconstructions and fused anatomic slices used for diagnosis and treatment planning.
