Abstract :
This paper summarizes work in progress, focused on construction of an artificial stereoscopic vision system that can solve the correspondence problem, when immersed in environments containing large numbers of depth discontinuities, for example, when presented with views of leafless trees in a snow storm. The work we describe is not even remotely complete. Although we present some promising approaches, analysis, and intermediate preliminary results, there exists much opportunity for additional refinement and exploration
