Abstract
Adaptive signal decomposition method is recently used for the interference reduction and target extraction. Two useful method, the adaptive chirplet decomposition (ACD) and empirical mode decomposition (EMD), are proposed in this paper. Using both simulative and experimental signals, they are compared in terms of Physical meaning, adaptiveness, sensitivity to signal type, interpretation of method, complexity of algorithm and computing time. In most cases, EMD is a better choice.
