Abstract :
Ultra wideband (UWB) technology has been shown to possess several characteristics that are required for the next generation wireless personal area network (WPAN) applications: simple implementation, high data rate, coexistence with existing systems. This paper presents performance evaluations of the multiband OFDM (MB-OFDM) UWB system based on simulations using indoor UWB channel measurements collected by Yingzhi Chen. Comparison of system performance (in terms of bit error rate) with different system parameter settings is presented. The parameters considered included cyclic prefix vs. zero-padded suffix used in the OFDM transmitter and receiver, length of the cyclic prefix, modulation, coding and interleaving combinations that allow for data rate of 200 Mbps vs. 53.3 Mbps.
