  • Abstract
The author introduces a technique for using personal computers in some of the more arduous calculations of electrical power design. He deals with the development of a template, which is a set of preformulated algorithms for use in a spreadsheet program, to provide calculations for fault current estimates. The spreadsheet program handles the mechanics of calculation and data management. Complex values of impedances and other circuit elements can be included in the computation. The template contains algorithms for conversions of data to and from per unit form, complex number calculations for network resolution, and calculations to find fault current, voltage drop, power factor, and other functions
