Abstract
In this paper, we present a novel Frobenius Norm filter, which is a spatially selective noise filtration technique in the wavelet subband domain. Impulse pixels located in the middle of large noise blotches can also be properly detected and filtered by our method. We have applied comparative Frobenius Norm under a given window set and pixel connectivity for removal of impulse noise. The Frobenius Norm filter preserves details and removes noise better than most median filter types. We obtained better restoration results, especially when the images were highly corrupted and having a high noise density. We have compared the performance of the technique to that of the Adaptive Median filter and the conventional median filter and found it to be superior.
