Abstract
Following the appearance of generalized predictive control (GPC) most research attention has been lately directed to guarantee the stability of the closed loop systems. This has been accompanied with relatively less attention to derive new techniques in the spirits of GPC that concerns system performance. This paper presents a new predictive control technique that is able to provide a better performance in terms of system overshoot when compared with the conventional GPC. The idea of the new technique is based on minimizing the rate of change of the predicted output while following the future trajectory. In addition robustness analysis to structured and unstructured uncertainties has been investigated
