Abstract :
A control strategy for short-time stabilization of power systems based on network switching is proposed. Its applicability is directly related to the emergence of novel power control technology and computing and communication facilities. The networks structure changes naturally fit into a global control plan which includes measures in generating and load subsystems. The strategy proposed is based on the variable structure systems theory and has a steady-state counterpart in corrective switching methods that is already in practice. Simulation results clearly show that transient response could be significantly improved by network switching.<>
