Development of reliable sub systems for Autosub
Author_Institution :
Ocean Technol. Div., Southampton Oceanogr. Centre, UK
Abstract :
Test and development work has been carried out on the Autosub project in the areas of sea water bearings, threaded inserts in GFRP, and control fin actuators to prove reliable operation prior to the main vehicle build. This work has now been incorporated into the prototype AUV Autosub-1 which is now undergoing sea trials off the south coast of the UK
