Abstract :
In the present paper, a new powerful method of studying cylindrical guiding structures, is proposed. Starting from Maxwell equations, equivalent circuits in wavenumber space are constructed. The propagating modes are derived from the resonance conditions of the corresponding circuits. This idea provides a very simple computer algorithm, which does away with complicated numerical solutions of the transcendental eigenvalue equation. Excellent agreement has been found with previous existing numerical results.
