Abstract :
A High-Q microdisk add-drop filter integrated with grating couplers in SOI was designed and fabricated. By introducing asymmetrical coupling, resonance with a Q factor as high as 1.7 times 105 and an extinction-ratio over 15 dB is obtained. The essentially critical coupling for a resonant mode with a Q factor of 4.2 times 104 is also realized.
