Abstract
In this paper, the realization of EM shielding concrete block is achieved using 3-D parallel resonator. The conventional 2-D resonator structure has degeneration of shielding characteristic by cross polarization effect. The proposed 3-D resonator is designed for reduction of cross polarization effect. The proposed 3-D resonator consists of 2-D parallel resonators on X,Y and Z axis. The 2-D parallel resonator consists of two plates and one via. The optimized mixture ratio, which means total concrete volume to total resonator volume, is 36.21 to 1. In case of the mixture ratio of 36.21 to 1, the measured resonance frequency of concrete block with 2-D resonator is 2.152GHz. The stop band width (les -20dB) is 270MHz. At the mixture ratio of 36.21 to 1, the resonance frequency of concrete block with 3-D resonator is 1.806GHz, which is lowered than concrete block with 2-D resonator, due to coupling among plates of resonators. The stop bandwidth of 3-D resonator (les -20dB) is 250MHz. The proposed concrete block structure can be applied to building construction for EM shielding effects.
