  • Abstract
    Internet is the most widely used medium to access remote sites. Data sent and received using TCP/IP is in plain text format and can be accessed and tampered quite easily and hence provides no data security. Especially, if the data is confidential and access to the gateway server has to be strictly controlled. Although there are several controls and mechanisms that have been thoroughly scrutinized to tackle these problems. In this paper we intend to provide a model that uses SSL to provide a secure channel between client and gateway server. Smart card will be used for client authentication and encryption/decryption of the data.
