Abstract
The capability of two different microwave radiometer systems for retrieving atmospheric temperature profiles are analyzed and compared with a presently available system. The statistical inversion, method is used to derive the expected profiling accuracy and to analyze the effects of correlation between measurement channels. Atmospheric conditions affecting the measurement situation and the choice of system is discussed.
