Abstract :
Metamaterials are artificial materials gain their unusual properties from their structure rather than directly from there composition. So most of the LHMs are based on artificial subwavelength metallic structures which exhibit electric or magnetic resonances at a certain frequency to obtain abnormal permittivity or permeability. However, there are some limitations for the metamaterials based on metallic structures, such as difficult in the fabrication of 3D structure;anisotropic, and hard to be tuned by external field. Nonmetallic dielectric materials supply another choice for metamaterials, as there are many electric or magnetic resonance in dielectric materials, which may induce negative permittivity or permeability. Example including negative permittivity, based on dielectric resonance in ferroelectrics, negative permeability based on Mie resonance of dielectric particles as well as the ferromagnetic resonance in ferrites. The talk will present some progress on this field.
