Title :
Wideband propagation measurements of mobile radio channels in mountainous areas in the 1800 MHz frequency range

Abstract :
A newly developed measurement system for wideband propagation investigations based on the principle of optimum estimation is described. In mountainous regions such as the Alps in Central Europe, strong multipath propagation conditions with large delay spread can occur. Measurements were taken in a valley-basin surrounded by steep mountains. These results affect the requirements for mobile radio system design and careful network planning and support a compromise between hardware and system costs with respect to the system performance
