Abstract
Accurate distance measurements for industrial applications can be performed with FMCW systems which use a nonlinear sweep and the phase measuring technique. These systems only work accurately, if multiple echoes are excluded. The measurement accuracy is disturbed in complex environments especially by short range secondary reflections. The influence of these unwanted reflections can be reduced by appropriate analogue or digital spatial filtering techniques.
