Abstract :
An efficient method to obtain measurement data for mobile radio in or around road tunnels is presented. In an experiment, different vehicles moved in scenery scaled at about 1:20 carrying an antenna that receives a signal at a frequency of 18 GHz to observe wave propagation effects in confined spaces such as tunnels, galleries, or cuttings. The processing of recorded data allows separation of the influence of different cross-section shapes, of different source positions, and of traffic, when scaled vehicles are in the propagation path. Many data are in line with 900-MHz propagation measured in real tunnels
