Abstract
The authors explore the possibility of introducing a novel family of algorithms for data blind equalization based on minimizing phase error cost functions. A simple discussion of the difficulties involved and how to avoid them serves to introduce the family. Then, the authors discuss the general and particular characteristics of these schemes, and show the performance of two representative particular cases by means of simulation examples. Finally, they propose some basic ideas on reducing the limitation of these phase constraining algorithms
