Abstract
Two different methods for the analysis of the wave propagation along a TEM-line periodically series loaded with lumped capacitors is presented. The first method is based upon transmission line theory and a perturbation technique to estimate the complex propagation constant of the waves traveling along the structure. As an alternative approach, an exact analysis based on the principle of reaction is employed to compute the current distribution along the structure from which the propagation constant of the waves is determined. Numerical results for the complex propagation constant from the two methods are compared. For the parameter variations studied, the perturbation approach is found to agree well with those due to the moment method solution.
