Abstract :
Similarities between artists and engineers are identified through analysis of a music composition process. Requirements of an artists´ design support technology are derived and appropriate adaptations are made to engineering design support technology. These adaptations are presented as an extended version model in which workspaces provide a generic abstraction to represent design object states within design process models, and a mechanism for the capture and reuse of process information enables artists to develop high-level design techniques through experimentation with design tools
